The Aspen Institute Romania organized on 3rd October 2008, at the Romanian Academy the Book Launch: "The Marshall Plan- Lessons Learned for the 21st Century" edited de Eliot Sorel and Pier Carlo Padoan and published at OECD.
The event began with a welcoming speech by the Governor of the National Bank of Romania, Mr. MugurIsarescu, followed by Mr. Mircea Geoana, President of the Aspen Institute Romania and President of the Romanian Senate, followed by Mr. Daniel Daianu and Mr. Eliot Sorel (as contributors to the book). The debate focused on the historical, diplomatic, economic and strategic aspects of the Marshall Plan, as well as tried to develop solutions to the complex global challenges of the XXI century.
The authors recap more some of the most important events of the past century, from the first days of the European Recovery Programme, to OECD and the European Union. The contributions to the book come from France, Italy, Poland, Romania, Great Britain and the United States.
