Aspen Healthcare Forum 2019
Universal Health Coverage: Making an Impact on People's Health
Aspen Healthcare Forum, now at its eighth edition, is the major public event of Aspen Institute Romania’s Healthcare & Quality of Life Program, bringing together decision-makers, renowned specialists from the medical sector, European and national experts in the fields of healthcare, health technology and pharmaceutical sector, representatives of academia and researchers, as well as industry leaders engaged in developing health policies. Last years’ participation of a number of experts from abroad contributed to setting up a program community and an agenda of thematic priorities in convergence with national priorities and advanced technological solutions as well as the EU regulatory framework and WHO goals.
This year’s edition will focus on universal health coverage, one of the targets set by world states when adopting the 2015 Sustainable Development Goals, and the opportunities to implement this concept in Romania and the region. Universal health coverage is defined as ensuring that all individuals and communities receive the health services they need without suffering financial hardship.
The Conference will discuss how to improve access to essential, quality health services, ranging from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care. The event will also focus on ways to achieve a more efficient funding of health systems, including the opportunities to develop public – private partnerships. Furthermore, next steps in promoting consensus on national healthcare priorities will be discussed.
