MEMBERSHIP

Members of the Aspen Institute Romania are individuals and companies who are committed to pursuing the Aspen values through their direct personal participation and financial support. Aspen members are bound to respect the integrity and impartiality criteria stemming from the Institute’s values and mission.

Private companies and individuals with an excellent public and professional reputation that share the Aspen ideals and goals related to an inclusive, non-partisan dialogue for a good society, are welcome to apply for membership. Prospective members must have recommendations from at least two already AIR members (inquiries on the matter can be addressed to us for further guidance), the package is afterwards sent to the Board for approval, membership being completed once received approval in the General Assembly.

Annual membership fees at Aspen Institute Romania depend on the type of membership:

  • Corporate membership (corporations and their representatives): €15,000
  • Enterprise membership: €10,000
  • Business membership (for companies with an annual turnover of up to €20 million): €5,000
  • Personal private sector: €2,500

All members of Aspen Institute Romania are eligible to participate in seminars & policy programs and are associated with the activities of the Institute (Leadership, Public Policy, Public Programs, Aspen International Network). Members can recommend other members of the organization for these programs, initiate and participate in the governance structures of existing programs or of newly created ones. As far as dedication time is concerned, it depends entirely on personal preference – there are individuals and organizations interested in a single program or those who are interested in virtually everything we do (often through different individuals from the member organization). We have members who are not Romanian citizens and also members who are not residents in Romania.

LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS

There are several ways in which you can participate in our Leadership Programs.

Young Leaders Program:

The Program is fellowship-based and is organized entirely in English. The Call for Nominations for each edition is usually launched at the beginning of each year.

Nominations can be made by submitting the following documentation in English: Nomination Form (template provided in the Call for nominations), a Letter of Recommendation and the candidate’s CV together with a Letter of Motivation.

The Selection process includes an eliminatory screening of the nominations and an interviews phase.

Aspen Seminar for Leaders:

The Seminar is usually organized once a year, entirely in English and it is fee based, which includes the costs of moderation, seminar management, seminar materials, accommodation, meals and transportation between Bucharest and the location of the seminar.

Discounts are available for the representatives of the AIR Members (25% Corporate Members, 20% Business Members, 15% Personal Private Sector Members) and for the representatives of the non-profit sector. In addition, depending on the budget of the program, 1-2 scholarships are available for representatives of the public sector.

This is an invitation only seminar. Also, we are always glad to receive recommendations of potential participants from the Aspen community.

Each edition is organized entirely in English and gathers 20-25 participants, aged between 25 and 45 years, with a high level of English fluency and a diverse background in terms of gender and political affiliation, selected through a complex selection process based on nominations.

Depending on the specific thematic focus of each edition, invitations for nominations are sent to various relevant public institutions, in the central and local public administration, universities etc. Also, we are always glad to receive recommendations of potential participants from the Aspen community.

Part of the broader category of the Custom Leadership Seminars, the Socrates Seminars provide a forum for leaders from various professions to convene and explore contemporary issues through expert-moderated dialogue.

The Custom Leadership Seminars and the Socrates Seminars are invitation based, depending on the areas of interest of each edition (e.g. healthcare, finance & economy, defense, resilience, technology etc.).
