Sofiya Tsvetkova is head of the International Relations Department at political party GERB, Bulgaria. She also contributes to the work of the Bulgarian foundation Sofia Platform as a project manager. Sofiya is a foreign policy professional interested in EU external relations with a focus on the Eastern Neighborhood, Russia and the Western Balkans in particular. She has a strong interest in identity and comparative politics, as well as civic education and the culture of remembrance. Sofiya holds an MSc degree in Politics and Government in the EU from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) with a specialization in EU external relations, and a BA degree in European Studies, Political Science and International Relations from the American University in Bulgaria. Previously, Sofiya has been employed as an Accredited Parliamentary Assistant at the European Parliament in Brussels, facilitating work in the Subcommittee on Security and Defence and the Committee on Education and Culture, and as a research assistant with the Sofia Office of the European Council on Foreign Relations.
