Andreea started her volunteer work in 2009 with FILIA Centre and she became the president of the organization in 2013. FILIA Centre is a feminist NGO from Bucharest, Romania, which supports, through research, advocacy and activism, equality of opportunities between women and men, women’s emancipation, the political representation of women’s interests as well as their participation in the political life. Prior becoming the president of FILIA Centre, Andreea worked for “Împreună” Agency for Community Development as a Project Assistant and for Serban & Musneci Associates as a political researcher. Andreea is involved in projects for combating all forms of violence against women and girls and for promoting gender equality and non-discrimination. Andreea represents FILIA Centre in the Network for Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and she coordinated the last two raising awareness campaign of the Network in October 2015 and 2016. She managed to involve different representatives of Embassies, the Romanian Government, European actors and other NGOs to take part in the campaign and to send written or recorded messages to condemn violence against women. One of the central events of the raising awareness campaign was a March that took place on the streets of Bucharest where over 700 people participated. Andreea holds a PhD in Political Science from the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration, Bucharest, with a thesis titled “Violence against Roma Women. Power Relations between Women and Men in the Roma community in Valea Seacă”.
