Dan Barna is the president of the political party Union Save Romania (USR), deputy on behalf of USR in the Romanian Parliament, vice president of the Foreign Policy Committee and member of the European Affairs Committee in the Chamber of Deputies.

Dan Barna has a significant professional experience as an International Certified Trainer, European Funding Consultant and for six months he was State Secretary in the Ministry for European Funds.

Between 2001 and 2007, he was a consultant of the European Commission Representation in Romania, being directly involved as an assessor, monitor or technical assistant in over 400 projects. During 2005 and 2007 he was the National Coordinator of the Public Information Campaigns of the European Commission Funding Program.

In 2007, Dan Barna was one of the founders of the Structural Consulting Group – www.fonduri-structurale.ro, a company he has managed for 10 years, during which the website [http://www.fonduri-structurale.ro<http://www.fonduri-structurale.ro]www.fonduri-structurale.ro<http://www.fonduri-structurale.ro> has become the leader of public information sources on European funding. During this period he contributed as an expert to the implementation of 12 projects funded by the European Social Fund.

As of May 2016, Dan Barna was part of the Dacian Cioloș Government as State Secretary at the Ministry of European Funds, position from which he coordinated the final reporting and closure of the 2007-2013 funding period, the Ministry’s relationship with the Parliament as well as part of the launching calls for projects for the new 2014-2020 period.

In october 2016 Dan Barna joined the Union Save Romania party and in december 2016 he was a candidate at the parliamentary elections on behalf of USR representing Sibiu county and won a seat in the Chamber of Deputies.
