Alexandra Petcu, Ph.D. is the Coordinator of the Digital & Green Living Lab at the West University of Timișoara (WUT), Head of the Innovation & Technology Transfer Office (WUT), and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (WUT).
With prior experience in public policy on higher education and flexible learning paths for students, she has a particular focus on the impact of the European Universities Initiatives in fostering a more social and innovative European Education Area (EEA) and European Higher Education Area (EHEA). At WUT, she coordinates the sustainability strategy of the UNITA – Universitas Montium European University Alliance.
Alexandra Petcu has over 15 years of experience in hazardous waste management and environmental entrepreneurship. She has also contributed to Romanian policymaking on environmental protection before Romania’s accession to the European Union. She led the development and financing of a sustainability-driven student entrepreneurial ecosystem in Romania’s West Region, resulting in the launch of 73 new businesses. Each of these businesses has integrated sustainability goals, such as reducing CO₂ emissions, conserving biodiversity, minimizing waste generation, or adopting new digital solutions.
From a scientific perspective, Alexandra Petcu holds a doctoral degree in Human Capital Accounting. Her current research focuses on Living Lab methodologies in schools and universities to support the education pillar of the EU’s twin transition.
