Mircea Meriacri was born in the Republic of Moldova (in the village of Costești) and came to Romania immediately after finishing high school. 

He has been an activist in the youth field for over 15 years, involved since 2009 in the student movement, as a student at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University in Iași. He was the president of the Francophone Students’ Association in Iași (2011-2012) and vice president of the National Alliance of Student Organizations in Romania (2012-2014).

Since 2017, he has initiated the process of coalition-building within the youth movement in Iași, which led to winning the title of Youth Capital of Romania for the period May 2, 2019, to May 1, 2020, a program he coordinated as the president of the Federation of Youth Non-Governmental Organizations in Iași (FONTIS). 

Currently, he is the president of the Romanian Youth Council (CTR), the main structure representing young people at the national level, and a PhD candidate in the Sociology department at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University in Iași.
