Prof. Dr. Gurzu Simona is Doctor of Medicine (2008) and Habilitated Doctor (2013), Consultant Gastrointestinal Pathologist and Professor at the “George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology of Târgu-Mureș, România”, Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine in English and Head of Pathology Department, CEO of Clinical Department of Pathology were she founded a Research Center of Oncopathology and Translational Medicine (CCOMT), Member in the Scientific Council of PhD School, Invited Associated Professor at Hamamatsu University, Japan, and Invited Researcher at the National Institute of Oncology, Budapest, Hungary, and Seoul University, South Korea, member of the following working groups of the European Society of Pathology: Digestive, Molecular, Soft tissue, Autopsy.
Her teaching and research activity is in histological, immunohistochemical, and molecular aspects of tumour and non-tumor lesions, with research activity in field of angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, transdisciplinary research and targeted therapy of cancer; She is a Member of the European Society of Pathology, European Society of Medical Oncology, Romanian Society of Morphology and Pathology, Romanian Society of Molecular Pathology.
She is also an Academic Editor at journals such BMC Cancer, Frontiers in Medicine – section Pathology, Medicine (Baltimore), Frontiers in Oncology – section gastrointestinal cancer and member in editorial board of several other journals including Pathol Res Pract. Total impact factor from papers published in extenso: 233.04; 1250 citations; H-index: Google Scholar – 21 (i10 index-57), web of science -17. Head of 14 projects, member in 22 grants.
