Oana Harabagiu
ASFA Member & Aspen Seminar Alumna 2025
Oana Harabagiu represents a new generation of leaders connecting global capital with the future of energy at the intersection of finance, energy, and policy in Europe’s energy transition. With a career spanning international finance, public policy, and sustainable investment, Oana is instrumental in developing Alive Capital’s strategic direction and strengthening institutional relations with energy sector stakeholders. Her career journey reflects a consistent mission: to accelerate the energy transition across Romania and Europe through building bridges between the public and private sectors,.
Educated at University College London in Economics, History, and Politics, Oana began her career at BlackRock, where she was part of the very first global ESG portfolio investment teams that defined the standards for sustainable finance. This early experience solidified her understanding that real impact is measured not just in figures but in the systemic transformations generated. She later joined the Ministry of Finance within the Romanian Government, where she coordinated complex international arbitration portfolios and strengthened the dialogue between government and institutional investors—proving that economic diplomacy and intelligent foresight can redefine an economy’s trajectory.
Today, in her role at Alive Capital, a leading Romanian energy aggregator managing over 1.2 GW of renewable capacity, Oana drives strategic initiatives directly tied to the company’s role as an operational blueprint for grid resilience. Her work contributes to embedding Romania’s energy transformation within a broader transatlantic framework, anchoring private sector innovation as a cornerstone of regional stability and digital resilience. Combining analytical rigor with pragmatic vision, she is dedicated to turning sustainability from an aspiration into the engine of the future for the entire region.
By advocating for the institutionalization and export of Alive Capital’s proven digital aggregation model to regional partners, Oana is also positioning Romania not just as an energy transit hub, but as the region’s center for “smart energy” expertise and digital resilience. She thus brings a forward-looking voice to the European energy transition—one grounded in innovation, cooperation, and trust.
