Aspen Teen Online Seminar
Aspen Teen Online Seminar is a leadership program launched in 2020, dedicated to high school students (aged 15 to 19) and conducted exclusively in Romanian.
The purpose of the Seminar is to introduce the high school students to the concept of values-based leadership, through the Aspen Method, offering them the space to explore the most challenging questions, at a decisive stage in their personal and professional development.
During the 3 days of seminar sessions, the participants Socratically debate a series of readings, from the greatest thinkers of past and present, such as: George Orwell, Plato, Nicolae Steinhardt, James Baldwin or Sofocles.
The moderator of the Seminar is Conf. univ. dr. Roxana Voicu-Dorobanțu, Aspen Fellow 2008, Associate Professor at the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies.
The program objectives are the following:
- Proposing a non-conventional extra-curricular activity, complementing formal education.
- Opening up new horizons for participants’ future professional paths, by developing critical thinking.
- Creating an AIR alumni network among the high school students.
- Opening the leadership programs of AIR to a new age group and promotion of the values and mission of the Institute to a larger target group, for a sustainable development of Romania.
The three editions of the Aspen Teen Online Seminar organized between 2020 and 2022 by the Aspen Institute Romania engaged 74 participants from various cities of Romania, who are now part of the Aspen community of seminar alumni.
