In 2020, Irakli Beraia was elected as the Chairman of Defense and Security Committee of the Georgian Parliament. He also chairs the parliamentary delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Prior to assuming his present position, he held number of posts such as Chair of Foreign Relations Committee, First Deputy Chair of Defense and Security Committee as well as Chair of the Parliamentary Commission for De-occupation and Restoration of Territorial Integrity, at the previous Parliament of Georgia. Before membership in the Georgian legislature in 2016, his work experience includes non-governmental, private and public sectors.  He’s a graduate of the Georgian Diplomatic Academy and holds Master’s Degree from the University of Westminster (London, UK) in Diplomatic Studies.
