
Sorana Stănescu

Sorana Stănescu is a Bucharest-based freelance health journalist hosting a monthly newsletter on how to navigate the Romanian health care system, Foaia de observație. Before that, she was a long-form magazine writer and editor for the independent quarterly magazine Decât o Revistă (DoR) for seven years, and a current affairs TV producer with the Romanian public television (TVR) for eight years.
At DoR, she has been covering extensively the fields of education, health and rural development, and has been coordinating DoR Live, a series of live storytelling events. She has been a contributor to BBC TV’s flagship investigative programme Panorama and to several other British and Romanian media. She completed her MA with distinction in Television Journalism, at London College of Communication, University of the Arts, UK. In 2012 Sorana won the first prize in the Balkan Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence competition, with an investigation on the UK job restrictions.
