Magdalena Ionita has more than 20 years of experience in the public sector, working at the Ministry of Public Finance and Permanent Representation of Romania to the EU. She was actively involved in promoting the legal framework for financial services as well as ensuring representation of MoPF to the meetings/working groups organised by the European Commission and European Council regarding topics related to financial services. Mrs. Ionita’s activity at the Ministry of Public Finance began in 1998, as an expert in the General Directorate of State Revenues Collecting, after graduating from the Faculty of Trade from Academy of Economic Studies. In her capacity as head of the division of Financial Markets (MoPF), between 2007-2011, Mrs. Ionita was a permanent member of the Financial Services Committee at the European Council. For 8 years she was working as financial attaché at Permanent Representation of Romania to the EU, representing the RO Government in negotiations on financial markets (banking, capital markets, insurance, pensions). During the period of Romania Presidency, Mrs. Ionita chaired the Financial Services Working Party for several files (investment firms review, central counterparties supervision, EMIR Refit, taxonomy). Starting from 2nd of September 2019, Mrs. Ionita works at the Ministry of Public Finance as Head of IFI Governance and Legislative Harmonization Unit within the International Financial Relations General Directorate.

Magdalena is a fellow of the second edition of the Aspen Public Service Leadership Program, organized between 2019 and 2020.
