
Robert Dobre

Robert was born in Bucharest in 1980. He attended the Faculty of Geography, University of Bucharest, BA level between 2000-2004. Further cultivating his academic interest in the same field, he graduated an MA specialization in 2004 and he became a PhD in Geography in 2009.
Being passionate about science and didactic activities, Robert began his teaching career at the Faculty of Geography in 2008. In 2011, he became a full-time Lecturer and since 2016 he is a PhD Associate Professor at the Faculty of Geography, University of Bucharest.
Throughout his scientific career, he has written six books, 10 ISI articles, over 20 BDI articles and he participated in over 80 national and international congresses and conferences. Also, Robert has introduced in the dedicated literature new analysis techniques, i.e., geomorphotechnical analysis.
His scientific interests aim to relate the topography of various land surfaces to activities of land planning. Simultaneously, he is dedicated to identifying solutions for sustainable transport infrastructure development and ways for managing the geomorphological processes that affect or could affect the society. Robert has extensive experience in GIS (Geographical Information System) analysis, database creation and manipulation.
Since 2014, he has been advisor in the Ministry of Transport where he coordinates the General Transport Master Plan of Romania. In 2016, he founded the Authority for Railway Reform and between October 2016 and March 2017 he headed the structure as President with Secretary of State rank. From 2018 onwards, he is a Director within the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, where his main concerns refer to the elaboration of the strategy in the field of transport.
