Daniel is the Country Managing Partner of PwC Romania, where he leads a team of over 800 professionals, across three lines of services – Assurance, Advisory and Tax, Legal & People. Since 2018 he has been leading Tax, Legal & People services and also has global and regional leadership roles in PwC, being the Head of Global policy for indirect tax, member of the Indirect Tax Global Strategy Council, Leader for Indirect Taxes in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and CEE Tax, Legal & People Investments Leader.
Daniel has been constantly and actively involved in the consultations of the business environment with the government authorities, contributing throughout his career to legislative projects with a major impact on the business environment in the tax field and to other projects regarding the broader regulatory framework for the investment environment, such as the recent steps made for the accession of our country to the OECD. Currently he is the President of the Council of Foreign Investors (FIC).
He has been involved in a wide range of complex missions for multinational corporations and local companies, in a wide array of industries and has coordinated various impact studies, such as: Labour market study for Coalita pentru dezvoltarea Romaniei (2018-2019), Impact of zero tax on minimum income for HORECA, Impact of nursey vouchers benefits on the economy.
Together with experts from PwC Belgium and PwC United Kingdom, Daniel was involved in the first and second PHARE Projects aiming to harmonize Romanian VAT law with the EU Sixth Directive and to train Romanian tax inspectors to work with the new EU VAT Directive principles. He has extensive experience of tax litigation projects for various clients in Romania and he also coordinated the first Romanian case to record a favorable European Court of Justice (ECJ) Decision.
Daniel has a Degree in Economics from the Academy of Economic Studies of Bucharest, a Professional Certificate in Management from the Open University through the London Business School and a specialization in management at INSEAD.
