Flavia Boghiu, former Deputy Mayor of Brașov, is a 32-year-old public servant currently serving her first term. She has a decade-long career in social and medical services, having owned and run her own home care business, founded a non-profit in social services, and served as the Founding Member and President of a social services cluster consisting of 17 organizations in Brașov – A.C.C.E.S.

With a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s in Community Development, Flavia founded a civic initiative called “Vă ajutăm din Brașov” during the COVID-19 state of emergency that began in March 2020. The initiative aimed to assist the elderly in the community with grocery shopping, errands, and various forms of support. It quickly gathered around 400 volunteers in Brașov and became the most significant civic initiative of its kind in the city. The initiative operated on a system with workflows and procedures, including a call center with 17 lines, all run entirely by volunteers working from home. Volunteers took calls from the elderly, created tickets, dispatched them, and assigned tasks to other volunteers.

As Deputy Mayor, Flavia is responsible for social services, health & medical assistance, managing the COVID-19 crisis, running the vaccination program, overseeing architecture & urbanism, mobility & public transportation, budget & finances, public acquisitions, culture, and public patrimony. Following the onset of the war in Ukraine, she mobilized the Brașov community for Ukraine (details on ua.brasovcity.ro) and established the refugee center at CATTIA, which became a best practice model for refugee centers in Romania.
