Mr. Mihai Marculescu (43) is the First Deputy General Director of the General Directorate for Internal Protection. He graduated from the Police Academy in 2001 and holds a master’s degree in Quality Management from the University Politehnica of Bucharest. 

Mr. Marculescu has been an intelligence officer ever since, with more than 20 years of experience in the field, climbing all steps of the professional hierarchy from desk officer to top management. Since 2011 he has held various management positions within DGPI – Section Chief, Deputy Director, General Director and Deputy General Director. In 2016 he was appointed as Secretary of State within the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a mission based on integrity and professionalism, to reorganize and operationalize DGPI as a military unit. He spent 2020 as Deputy General Director of the General Directorate for Operational Management. Starting January 2021 Mr. Marculescu returned to DGPI and he has been serving since in the executive team as the First Deputy General Director.
