
Roman Tătaru

Roman Tataru is the Chief Operating Officer at Eximbank, part of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group. He has been active in the banking sector since 2006, starting in finance and gradually moving into IT and operational management roles. This transition gave him a strong cross-functional view, bridging financial understanding with hands-on experience in technology and execution.
Today, Roman oversees ICT, Back Office & Payments, and Logistics. He holds a degree and a master’s in finance and banking from the Academy of Economic Studies in Moldova. Over the years, he has led several complex transformation projects, including core banking upgrades, digitalization initiatives, and process redesign. He is certified in IT Service Management and Cloud/Outsourcing Governance, with a solid grasp of both business and technology environments.
His leadership style is structured, pragmatic, and focused on results. He values clear decisions, ownership, and long-term thinking. Roman speaks Romanian, English, and Russian, and has working knowledge of Italian. Outside work, he enjoys technology, systems design, and photography.
He joined the leadership seminar to take a broader view on leadership, challenge assumptions, and learn from meaningful exchanges with peers in different fields.
