
Lotje Boswinkel
PhD researcher, Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy
Lotje Boswinkel is a PhD researcher at the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels. She is also a Next-Generation Fellow at NATO Defense College and previously a Morgenthau fellow at the Notre Dame International Security Center. Her research focuses on deterrence and US alliances in Europe and the Indo-Pacific. Lotje has published with Survival and International Affairs, and written for think tanks and policy outlets, including War on the Rocks, the Royal United Services Institute, and the Council on Geostrategy. Prior to joining CSDS, Lotje worked as researcher at The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies and as a trainee at the EU Institute for Security Studies. She holds a Master’s degree in International Security from Sciences Po, Paris.
