Marie Harf has two decades of varied experience in the U.S. federal government, higher education, media, and politics. She currently works at the University of Pennsylvania, where she serves as Executive Director of Perry World House, the University’s on-campus hub and think tank for global affairs.
Since 2017, Harf has also been an on-air Democratic commentator at Fox News. Previously, she worked as the senior advisor for strategic communications to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and deputy spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, as the foreign policy director on Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign, and as a Middle East analyst and spokesperson at the Central Intelligence Agency. Harf’s work today focuses on the U.S.-Iran relationship; American policy related to Israel, including the impact of Christian Zionism; and how public narratives and national myths impact policymaking in the U.S. and the Middle East.
