About the Event

As technology reshapes the New Economy, businesses play a crucial role in guiding policymakers to ensure regulations foster innovation while protecting societal interests. This roundtable, organized by Aspen Institute Romania under the aegis of the Aspen New Economy & Society Program, aims to provide a platform for decision-makers and business leaders to offer their insights on the key topics and challenges expected in 2025, focusing on how regulations can be shaped to support both technological progress and societal values.

The roundtable will address:

  • Business Perspectives on New Regulations: Evaluating the impact of local and European regulations on digital signatures, payments, and cybersecurity. Discussions will focus on how businesses can proactively adapt to these changes, identify best practices for compliance, and collaborate with policymakers to create a conducive regulatory environment.
  • AI and GenAI Integration: Discussing the opportunities and challenges of AI and GenAI from a business standpoint. The session will cover best practices for leveraging these technologies, assessing AI-readiness, strategies for growing AI from a support to a critical function, for mitigating risks and ensuring ethical compliance while fostering innovation and growth.
  • Navigating Privacy and Intellectual Property: Addressing business concerns related to privacy rights and intellectual property in the digital age. The discussion will focus on developing adaptive frameworks that protect individual rights while fostering innovation, and will outline practical measures businesses can take to influence policy effectively.

Event Format

Chatham House rules, by invitation only roundtable discussion with leading public and private sector representatives. The discussions will be moderated and based on questions addressed to each speaker and followed by open interventions from other participants. The working language will be Romanian.

About the Aspen New Economy & Society Program

The Aspen New Economy & Society Program is a non-partisan, evidence-based, multi-stakeholder platform for debate.
