Aspen Institute Romania organized the workshop “Promoting Financial Education – Benefits, Recommendations and Best Practices” on April 19th, 2019. The workshop, organized under the aegis of the Aspen Economic Opportunities and Financing the Economy Program, took place at the Ministry of Education.

The workshop on April 19th was the first event organized in the 2019 edition of the program and brought together relevant stakeholders in the field of financial education, including key decision-makers, representatives of the public and private sectors, as well as members of academia and non-governmental organizations.

Participants noted that efforts to promote financial education, both by public and private sector organizations, have started to gain more and more visibility and reach increasing numbers of people in recent years. Applying the Aspen method, discussions focused on mapping the current state of these efforts, presenting best practices and recommending possible initiatives for action, including a dedicated legal framework (e.g. National Financial Education Strategy).
