
Alex Popa

Alex Popa is a seasoned global investor specializing in technology, growth equities, and venture investing. During his sixteen-year tenure at The Capital Group, one of the world’s largest and oldest investment firms, Alex held significant roles as Partner and Portfolio Manager for the Growth Fund of America, the world’s largest actively managed fund with over $200Bn AUM. His earlier analyst roles included North American railroads, insurance, and systemically important banks and financial institutions.
Prior to his finance career, Alex served in senior positions within the Government of Romania, including Prime Minister’s adviser for economic affairs and Secretary of State for Foreign Investments.
Alex received his MBA from Harvard Business School with highest distinction, as both Baker and Loeb Scholar, earning the top academic record in finance. He also received MS and dual BAS degrees from Stanford, ranking first in his class as Henry Ford II Scholar.
Alex has won eight first prizes in national and international physics Olympiads and is passionate about advancing next-gen financial infrastructure, life sciences, policymaking, automobile racing, and skiing. He has been actively involved on the boards of Stanford University Life Sciences, Harvard Business School, US Olympics’ Career & Education Working Group, Wings for Life USA, JCI Romania – Founding President, as well as the Lundquist Institute. He is also a member of the Aspen Finance Leaders Fellows Class VI and the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
