Alexandra Violeta Simionescu is pursuing a PhD in the management of transport infrastructure projects at Bucharest University of Economic Studies. Alexandra holds two bachelor’s degree in economics and civil engineering and graduated in 2014 with the distinction „Cum Laude” the ”Construction Management and Engineering” Master’s Program at  Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands.

Since October 2019, Alexandra joined the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) – the Strategic Analysis and Innovation Unit.

Between 2016 and 2019, Alexandra worked for the Romanian National Railway Company “CFR”-S.A. – the Development Directorate, a specially-created department, aiming at strengthening the administrative and institutional capacities of the company, being a key expert for the cost-benefit analysis (CBA). She was part of a team responsible for the identification of suitable projects and the submission of the funding applications under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) – Transport call for proposals.

As a trainee at the European Commission, in the Directorate General for Mobility and Transport, Alexandra contributed to the development of Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) policy in what concerns the smaller cross-border railway sections.

Alexandra worked in the private sector for general contractors, proving good project management and cost optimization skills.
