Active for over 15 years in the Central and Eastern European insurance markets, Alexandru CIUNCAN has extensive experience covering market conduct regulation, consumer protection, communication, financial journalism, public affairs and project management.

Alexandru is since September 2018 the Director General of UNSAR – The National Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies in Romania. Between 2013 – 2018 he served as Member of EIOPA’s IRSG – Insurance and Reinsurance Stakeholder Group and of the OPSG – Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group, representing consumers, working closely with stakeholders and key decision makers in the European Union on legislative initiatives that govern the insurance and private pensions markets.

At the same time, his activity with APPA-The Association for Insurance Promotion – the NGO that developed Romania’s first multi-channel national campaigns dedicated to educating consumers and to promoting road safety and public awareness – and with XPRIMM – a media and publishing company specialized in the CEE, SEE and CIS insurance and reinsurance markets – has been dedicated to promoting the idea that dialogue is always the way forward.

Alexandru graduated from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and holds a Professional Certificate in Management (Open University Business School, UK), a PMP – Project Management Professional Certificate and a ACP – Agile Certified Professional Diploma (PMI Institute, USA).
