Andrei Macsut is a Romanian researcher, political and social activist, and writer, with a notable focus on anti-corruption and public integrity. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the Central European University in Budapest and has obtained MAs from both University College London and the University of Bucharest, focusing on social movements.

Andrei is associated with the Romanian Academic Society (SAR), where he conducts research on transparency, good governance, and civic engagement. His work includes analyzing patterns of corruption, particularly at the sub-national level in Romania. His dissertation, “Patterns of Corruption – A Study of Sub-National Units in Romania,” explores the changes in Romanian corruption since the country’s EU accession in 2007, emphasizing the role of political networks and local power dynamics in shaping corrupt practices​.

In addition to his research activities, Andrei is actively involved in various civic and political projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in public institutions. He has contributed to numerous reports and publications for organizations such as Transparency International and the Southeast Europe Leadership for Development and Integrity (SELDI) network​.
