Bogdan Timar is a Professor of Diabetes and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at “Victor Babeș” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timișoara, Romania. He is a senior specialist physician in Diabetes, Nutrition, and Metabolic Diseases, the head of the Diabetes Clinic at the “Pius Brânzeu” Emergency Hospital in Timișoara, and Vice-President of the Romanian Society of Diabetes, Nutrition, and Metabolic Diseases.

Bogdan Timar is involved in several international and national research projects focused on cardiovascular risk assessment and management in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. His research also explores early predictive factors in the development of diabetes complications, as well as the socio-economic and quality of life impact of diabetes. He is the initiator and promoter of the Diabetes Science School training program for young researchers in the field of diabetes and serves as Associate Editor of the Romanian Journal of Diabetes, Nutrition, and Metabolic Diseases.
