Cătălin Raiu is a lecturer in Political and Administrative Science at the Faculty of Business and Administration, University of Bucharest. He is also the Director of Communication at the National Institute of Statistics and a member of the Panel of Experts on Freedom of Religion or Belief at the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the OSCE, being the first Romanian to serve in this capacity. Cătălin Raiu is also the president and founder of FoRB Romania, the Association for the Promotion of Freedom of Religion or Belief.

He has studied theology (BTheol & MTheol) and political science (MA & PhD) at the University of Bucharest and was a doctoral fellow at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom (2010-2011). Cătălin Raiu also conducted postdoctoral studies in political science and economics at the Romanian Academy (2014-2015). He has worked for the Government of Romania in various positions since 2013.
