Dan Costin Nițescu brings over 20 years of extensive experience in finance and banking, having held senior management and coordination roles in both the central bank and commercial banking sectors. His career is marked by a unique integration of academic, research, and practical banking expertise.

He has coordinated complex financing transactions and developed structured banking products across a wide range of projects and industries. In parallel, he has remained committed to academic excellence, currently serving as Professor in the Department of Money and Banking at the Faculty of Finance and Banking, Bucharest University of Economic Studies.

Dan Costin Nițescu currently holds the position of Senior Advisor to the Governor of the National Bank of Romania. He is also a member of the Supervisory Board and Chair of the Audit Committee of the Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund, as well as Chairman of the Board of Transfond.

He was a founding member of the Norwegian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce (established in Oslo, 2010), and is an active member of the Romanian Chapter of the Club of Rome and the European League for Economic Cooperation.

He holds a Ph.D. in Economics with a specialization in Finance, along with a degree in Financial Management from the Open University Business School, UK. He is the author of over 50 articles and books on finance and banking. His research interests include risk management and corporate governance in banking, banking and payment systems, financial technology, and sustainable banking.
