Darius Vodă, currently Secretary General, Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism – Romania holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking and two master’s degree, one in Business Administration and a second one in Foreign trade at Bucharest University of Economic Studies.

In the current role as Secretary General, his focus and duties are to fruitfully achieve the smooth functioning of the ministry. Part of these duties are: ensuring the stability of the ministry’s operation, the continuity of activities and the realization of functional links between the structures of the ministry; coordinating the good functioning of the departments and functional activities within the ministry; ensuring the operational link between the minister and the heads of all departments in the ministry and subordinate units; maintaining the link with the other authorities and bodies of the public administration.

Between 2012-2015, he held the position of Advisor to the Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises, Business and Tourism and Director of the Coordinating State Secretary Cabinet in field of entrepreneurship, contributing in the elaboration of the The Government Strategy for SMEs and the Business Environment – Horizon 2020, a very ambitious strategy for SME development.

Previously, from 2016, until the end of 2021, Darius was Director/ General Director for Business Environment Directorate on behalf of the Ministry for the Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship of Romania, having under his responsibility the implementation of a series of measures aimed to achieve a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Before joining public administration, Darius focused on the importance of supporting SMEs development in early banking experience as financial consultant. As the current official Romanian SME Envoy, he is continuing his passion to support business sector and reinforce SME interests in the European Union as well as at National level by bringing innovative policy development with a fresh and proactive approach, promoting digital governance and reform delivery in the areas of business environment and entrepreneurship interconnecting assets like legislative framework, business environment infrastructures and entrepreneurial culture.
