Dr. Hans Kluge’s background is in health systems, public health and infectious diseases. He is a medical doctor, and he was previously based in the WHO Country Office in Myanmar and in the WHO Office of the Special Representative of the Director-General in the Russian Federation. He has also served as the Special United Nations Representative for Tuberculosis (TB) and TB/HIV Control in the Russian Federal Penitentiary System. He moved to the WHO Regional Office for Europe to take up the position of Unit Head of Country Policies and Systems in 2009, and in 2010 was appointed Director of the Division of Health Systems and Public Health and Special Representative of the Regional Director on MXDR/TB. Dr. Kluge is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Integrated Care and has published in the fields of TB and multidrug-resistant TB, health systems, and public health.
