Ms. Gerardina Corona is a Carabinieri Lieutenant Colonel, Chief of the Press Office-External Relations with the Media Branch at the Carabinieri General Headquarters, based in Rome (Italy).

Born in Naples in 1983, she has been serving in the Carabinieri for 21 years. She attended the Military Academy in 2001 and after graduating in law she served in several posts in Italy as Company Commander, responsible for the direction and coordination of investigations, autonomous judiciary policing operations, witnesses and witness protection programs anti-mafia investigations, crisis management, drug smuggling investigations, weapon trafficking investigations and public order activities within the territory of competence.

She also served as a Staff Officer at the Office of the Military Advisor of the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers. She was seconded on international Peacekeeping Missions as expeditionary training team leader in gender related issues in Baghdad-Iraq for a specific training initiative in favour of an Iraqi Ministry of the Interior Female Police Officers class and in Palestine as Head of Operations of the Temporary International Presence in Hebron 2 Mission, responsible for operations, training initiatives, policy and planning at the organizational level within the Mission’s Mandate.
