Gerke Witteveen has extensive experience in Finance and Risk Management roles in the insurance industry. Most recently, he joined NN Asigurari de Viata in November 2016 as CFO. Prior to joining NN, he worked for 11 years with Achmea, another leading Dutch insurance company. After an initial stint in the headquarters, he stayed in Romania from 2008 until 2013 as CFO in Romania for Achmea’s subsidiary Eureko/Interamerican. From 2013 to 2016 he worked in the Netherlands for Achmea’s business units in Life insurance and Pensions. He started his career as consultant at OC&C Strategy Consultants, working on projects in a multitude of industries in both the Netherland s and the UK. In the latter years he focused on advising companies and private equity firms on mergers & acquisitions. Next to his position at NN, Gerke is currently the president of the NRCC (Dutch Romanian chamber of commerce), and acting vice-president in UNSAR (the Romanian insurance association). Gerke holds a master’s degree in Business Economics from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, with a specialization in transportation economics and logistics.
