A career diplomat since 1991, Ambassador Hugues Moret has been France’s Special Envoy for the EPC since January 2023. In this capacity, he coordinates the French participation to this new initiative launched in 2022 in order to bring together EU Member states with candidate and non-candidate countries. Previously, Mr. Moret served as deputy spokesperson for the French President (2006-2007) and the minister of Foreign affairs (2007-2008). He was the chief of staff for ministers in charge of Human Rights (2008-2009) and Sports (2009-2010). Mr. Moret served as France’s ambassador to Monaco from 2011 to 2014 and to Uruguay from 2018 to 2021.
