Albu Iuliana, originally from the Republic of Moldova, is an experienced professional in the field of healthcare and the regulation of medicines and medical devices. She speaks Romanian, English, and Russian, and follows the Orthodox Christian faith. After completing her high school and university studies in the Republic of Moldova, Iuliana built a career in the healthcare sector, with an academic background in economics and public finance.
Since 2009, she has been working in the healthcare sector, specializing in the regulation of medicines and medical devices. She began her career as an accountant economist at the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery (IMSP) and later joined the National Health Insurance Company, where she progressed from coordinating specialist to Head of the Medicines Department. Between 2022 and 2023, she provided consultancy services to the World Health Organization team in Moldova.
Starting in 2024, Iuliana assumed the role of Head of the Policy Directorate for Medicines and Medical Devices, successfully coordinating the update of legislation and the transposition of the European acquis.
Iuliana has extensive experience in implementing and managing drug reimbursement mechanisms, contributing to improving patients’ access to treatment. She has also collaborated with both local and international institutions to align national legislation in the field of medicine and public health with European standards, thereby contributing to the development of the regulatory framework in healthcare.
