Young professional in the law field, acting as Public Notary in Bucharest, since 2008, Iulia Scântei is now Judge at the Constitutional Court of Romania. 

Being elected as Senator of Iasi county for her first mandate in 2016 and continuing his parliamentary experience in his second mandate from 2020-2022, her past governmental career also includes official positions and dignities such as: Counsellor of the Prime Minister on Antifraud Fight in the field of European Funds (2006), Counsellor of the Ministry of Justice and General Secretary of the Ministry of Justice (2007 – 2008).

Vice-president of the Senate between 21th of December 2016 and 1st of September 2017, she was member of the following parliamentary committees: *the Committee for Legal Matters, Appointments, Discipline, Immunities and Validations and the Committee for Defense, Public Order and National Security.  

As Senator of Iasi’s constituency, she has promoted parliamentary diplomacy projects for the Iasi and Moldova region at political, cultural, educational and economic levels. She has organized several Centennial projects, in Iasi, in Bucharest and abroad for the Romanian diaspora, to promote the history of Iasi, as Royal city and its role for the Great Unification from 1918.

She supports dual schools and education for kids from the rural area together with private companies. She aims to promote Iasi as a hub for new technologies and as a center of excellence for cybersecurity programs. Empowering women in politics, gender budgeting, supporting the family of women involved in business or politics are also among her subjects of political interest.

Iulia Scântei is a fellow of the first edition of the Aspen Public Service Leadership Program, organized between 2018 and 2019.
