Marian Staș is a reserve colonel in the Romanian military, with degrees in computer science and mathematics, and a Ph.D. in software reliability (2001). A Kokkalis Fellow, Edward S. Mason Fellow, and MC/MPA-99 at Harvard Kennedy School, he was a Quantitative Methods Instructor in HKS summer programs for almost two decades., Since 2002, Marian coordinates the youth leadership program “Leaders for the Third Millennium”®, a non-formal education project with more than 17,000 graduates to date, in Romania and Moldova. Also, he trained successive classes in Aspen Young Leaders, Leaders for Justice Romania, and LEAD Moldova leadership programs for young professionals. Besides quantitative aspects of public policy, his areas of interest and expertise include teaching, training and consulting on organizational development, effective teamwork, leadership and training of trainers. Involved in the transformation of Education in Romania, the most important process Marian currently contributes is the paradigm shift of the public school system in our country.
