Since March 2018, Nighina is leading EVAW (Ending Violence Against Women and Girls) portfolio with UN Women Moldova CO and she managed, together with the team, to build strong partnerships with Government, Parliament and CSO’s to advocate for important legislative changes, including the ratification of Istanbul Convention.

In April 2017 Nighina Azizov initiated and launched an innovative project, Listening Tour “Voices of Moldovan Women” Talk to Us! in the Republic of Moldova, that aims at identifying urgent needs and challenges that women are facing as women in rural areas and broader. The project was inspired from US Maryland Commission for Women where Nighina did the Professional Fellows Program, 2016 Cohort, for a month.

Between October 2015 and February 2016, she served as the Deputy Minister of Labour, Social Protection and Family of the Republic of Moldova. Previously, she was Chief of Staff of the Deputy Chairperson of the Parliament.

Nighina is a co-founder of Women`s Democracy Network (WDN) Moldova Chapter, “LeaderSHE” – Young Women Leader’s Academy, an innovative project for women aged between 16-18 years, on mentorship, project writing and career orientation on volunteer basis.
Nighina took part as a speaker in and organized herself numerous international conferences and workshops on democracy, electoral campaigns and youth leadership, gender equality, stereotypes and discrimination.
In addition, she is strongly committed to gender issues, women’s political and economic empowerment and advocates for a full consideration and respect to human rights in the Republic of Moldova. Having a strong background in political theory, gender issues, project management and coordination, social activities and legislative issues.

She completed her BA and Master’s Degree in political science at Moldova State University. She undertook her PhD studies at the Academy of Public Administration.
