Rachel A. Epstein is Professor of International Relations at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver, where she also serves as Senior Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Affairs. She has published widely on EU and NATO enlargement, financial crises, and the ethics of academic engagement with policymakers. Her books include In Pursuit of Liberalism: International Institutions in Postcommunist Europe (Johns Hopkins 2008), Banking on Markets: The Transformation of Bank-State Ties in Europe and Beyond (Oxford, 2017, recipient of the Ed A Hewitt prize in political economy), and Responsible Policy Engagement: A New Imperative for Social Scientists (co-edited with Oliver Kaplan and forthcoming with Oxford in 2024).
