Dr. Roozbeh Aliabadi is an AI education entrepreneur, geopolitical commentator, and former military service member specializing in the Middle East, Central Asia, and geo-economics. His perspectives have been featured in major global outlets, including BBC, The Hill, Wall Street Journal, NIKKEI Asian Review, and USA Today, among others.
In addition to his entrepreneurial pursuits, Dr. Aliabadi served for eight years in the United States Army Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), specifically in Psychological Operations and Civil Affairs. His military background provided him with invaluable experience in strategic communication, conflict resolution, and fostering cross-cultural dialogue, contributing to his global outlook.
As the co-founder of ReadyAI, Dr. Aliabadi has played a leading role in expanding AI education globally. ReadyAI offers resources and curricula that enable schools to educate the next generation in AI, empowering youth to solve real-world challenges using technology. He also founded the World Artificial Intelligence Competition for Youth (WAICY), the world’s largest AI competition for youth, which fosters “AI thinking” among participants and promotes the use of AI to address global issues.
In his role at ReadyAI, Dr. Aliabadi has coauthored a book on Large Language Models for educators, aimed at helping teachers integrate AI into their classrooms. He has also coauthored a series of AI books for children, introducing young learners to foundational AI concepts, reinforcing his commitment to making AI education accessible to all.
Dr. Aliabadi is a passionate advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion, particularly in the field of AI education. His global travels, spanning over 90 countries, have informed his vision of using technology to combat social inequality and address environmental challenges like climate change.
Additionally, Dr. Aliabadi has served as an advisor to political and economic institutions across the Middle East, providing expertise on trade, economic policy, and international diplomacy. His advisory roles, including participation in Middle Eastern presidential campaigns, reflect his commitment to pragmatic solutions in geopolitics.
Dr. Aliabadi holds a PhD from Robert Morris University, where his research focused on AI interventions in education, specifically teaching AI to youth. He also earned a Master’s degree in International Political Economy and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Pittsburgh.
