Simona Spinaru is a career diplomat working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania since November 2003, currently holding the diplomatic rank of ministry plenipotentiary.

Prior to diplomacy, she was university law teaching assistant. She graduated from the Law School of Iași ‘Alexandru Ioan Cuza’ University in 2000.

During her diplomatic career, she fulfilled multiple responsibilities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the diplomatic service abroad, both in bilateral and multilateral fields. She held various positions within the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, having expertise mainly in the strategic and European affairs, human rights and international legal affairs.

Her last managerial position was of director of the Romanian Diplomatic Institute, a three-year mandate that she finished in 2020.

Her continuing education encapsulates various master-degrees programs and other specialized courses at Bucharest SNSPA, at Washington D.C. ‘Edmund A. Walsh’ School of Foreign Service of Georgetown University, at Law School of University College of London, at Aspen Institute Romania, at Paris L’ENA, at Garmisch-Partenkirchen George C.
