Una Clara Sigheti works as a Political Specialist (Rule of Law Portfolio) at the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest. At the intersection of law and politics, her role involves continuously monitoring new developments and gathering the latest information, followed by cross-referencing, analysis, and interpretation. Her work ensures that Romania’s development aligns with the rule of law and democratic principles, which are essential to advancing the objectives of its strategic partnership with the United States.
A key aspect of her job is assessing the potential impact of legal or political developments on bilateral relations and recommending policy positions based on the evolution of events in Romania.
In addition to her official role, Una Clara engages in pro bono work, including the Leaders for Justice Program (Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Rule of Law Program), which supports legal professionals. She is also the initiator and coordinator of the ‘Silent Heroes’ Project, which focuses on integrity.
Una Clara holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science (English Section) from the University of Bucharest, and she is a graduate of Bard College Berlin (Academy Year in Liberal Arts). She is an Ashoka Social Innovator, an alumna of the Great Lakes Consortium USA’s Professional Fellows Program (Empowering Citizen-Led Democracy), and a member of the Youth Leaders Network, an anti-corruption community supported by Integrity Initiatives International USA.
