Valentin is the Director of Strategy and Financial Stability Directorate and Delegated Director for Authorization and Regulation Directorate for the insurance sector of Romanian FSA, having an extensive experience in financial markets, both local and  international. 

Valentin is also involved in EIOPA, IAIS and ESMA work, being an active member of the Project Group on Recovery and Resolution in EIOPA, and as a member of Financial Innovation Standing Committee at ESMA. Valentin is participant and alternate member of the National Macroprudential Surveillance  Committee. 

He graduated the Academy for Economic Studies in Bucharest and has an EMBA degree. He attended numerous courses in finance, including a long term program in Georgetown University in the US. 

Valentin sustained, also, in the past an intense activity in the field of financial services and products on sell side and buy side (Wood & Company Prague, Czech Republic), as operation manager for a financial intermediary, as a sells manager for an investment bank (Euro Invest Bank AG, Austria), as a CEO of Bucharest Stock-Exchange, as President of Central Depository and as a board member/ member of an investment committee in a listed  investment company. He was founder of the Capital Market Professionals Organization and he was Vice president of this organisation.

Valentin regularly publishes opinions and articles in the financial studies magazine, is invited to hold  presentations at international seminars, and has been quoted by Bloomberg on various occasions.

Valentin is member of the football winning team of ASF (gold medal two times) in the UEFCO league of the  national football championship for companies.

He is a fellow of the first edition of the Aspen Public Service Leadership Program, organized between 2018 and 2019.
