We are pleased to announce the opening of the Aspen Institute Romania Chișinău Office, managed by Stella Jemna, Aspen Fellow 2014.

The launch of the AIR Chişinău Office was officially announced on September 15, 2023 during the interactive dialogue NATO: helping Moldova reach its European future. The event was organized at Mediacor Hub of the Moldova State University, by the NATO Liaison Office in the Republic of Moldova – Oficiul de legătură NATO în Republica Moldova, in partnership with the Aspen Institute Romania and the Foreign Policy Association – Asociația pentru Politica Externă APE.

Mr. Mircea Geoana – NATO Deputy Secretary General and AIR Founding President engaged in a panel discussion with Mr. Jānis Mažeiks, Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Mr. Cosmin Dinescu, Head of the EU Partnership Mission to Moldova, Ms. Stella Jemna, Manager of the AIR Chisinau Office, and Mr. Petru Țurcan Head of DCAF Moldova. Moderated by Mr. Ion Sturza (former Moldovan Prime Minister), the panellists discussed the recent regional security developments, Moldova’s European path, and its efforts to strengthen its security and defence institutions and enhance its national resilience, engaging in an interactive discussion with a diverse audience of civil society representatives.

In the margins of the event, Aspen Institute Romania organized a Cocktail Reception, welcoming Aspen Members, Fellows & Alumni, as well as a select group of partners. The AIR would like to thank Mr. Ion Sturza (Aspen Member) and the Foreign Policy Association team, for the cooperation and support.
