In a time of growing instability and geopolitical rivalry, the Aspen European Strategic Forum, taking place on September 18 -19, in Bucharest, aims to foster high-level strategic dialogue and collaborative policy thinking. It brings together leaders from across Europe to address key security and defense challenges, strengthen transatlantic cooperation, and promote democratic values.
The inaugural edition will be launching a series of international events to be hosted in rotation among the co-organizing institutes. As part of this first edition, the Leadership Seminar – Peace and Security as a Priority for the Young Generation will take place on 18 September 2025, convening a select group of emerging leaders for a half day of in-depth dialogue in the Aspen method format.
The seminar will offer participants a space to reflect on the shifting dynamics of peace and conflict in Europe, explore the future of European defense and deterrence, and articulate the role of their generation in advancing resilient, democratic, and secure societies.
Through moderated exchanges and peer learning, the seminar seeks to strengthen strategic thinking, foster cross-border collaboration, and empower young voices in shaping Europe’s response to current and future threats. Discussions will cover topics such as the European defense industry, dual-use technology, hybrid threats, cyber and energy vulnerabilities, and the role of narratives and information warfare.
Why Apply?
Participants will actively contribute to shaping Europe’s strategic future while developing their own leadership skills and policy understanding. The seminar offers lasting access to the Aspen network and the opportunity to form strong international connections with peers from across the region.
