An international seminar, organized under the framework of the Aspen Technology & Society Program. The seminar will be conducted in Romanian and will take place in a picturesque location in Giurgiu County, close to Bucharest.

The seminar will begin on Thursday afternoon and will conclude on Saturday afternoon.

AI, Competitiveness, and the New Architecture of Decision-Making

Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming a strategic infrastructure, shaping competitiveness, institutional capacity, and decision-making across organizations and governments. Beyond debates on regulation or ethics, AI is transforming how decisions are made, redefining the relationship between human judgment and data-driven analysis.

For both states and organizations, the challenge is no longer simply adopting AI tools, but understanding how they reshape governance, strategy, and resilience.

The seminar will be structured around three main thematic pillars:

  1. AI and Economic Competitiveness
  • How is artificial intelligence transforming economic competitiveness at national and organizational level?
  • What conditions enable states and companies to become competitive in an AI-driven economy?
  1. AI and the Transformation of Decision-Making
  • If AI changes how information is generated and interpreted, what happens to human judgment and governance structures?
  1. AI, Security, and Strategic Resilience
  • As AI becomes embedded in critical infrastructures, it also becomes a matter of national security.

Bringing together a select group of leaders from the public sector, business community, academia, and the technology field, the seminar will apply the Aspen Method to ensure a diverse and balanced exchange of perspectives. The seminar will convene approximately 20–25 participants and will combine short expert interventions, moderated discussions, and case-based exchanges, with a strong emphasis on interaction and peer learning.
