Ana Mercado, MD holds a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Nis and is Alumna of School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University. She has over twenty-five years of professional experience including as a practicing physician (psychiatry), Public Servant in Municipal Government, and USAID Program Advisor, and 15 years with the World Bank. She joined the World Bank in 2007 as a Health Specialist with the Health, Nutrition, and Population Global Practice, and has since led and worked on number of World Bank operations and analytical work in Europe and Central Asia, Latin America and Caribbean, and Africa regions, where she initiated and guided implementation of various innovative public health interventions, including in health financing, organization of health service, quality of service delivery, pharmaceutical policies, and mental health.
Serbian National, currently residing in Washington DC, she is very excited about her upcoming move to Bucharest, Romania. Ana enjoys traveling and exploring different cultures, going to opera and theater, and dining and wining.
