Li Yujie joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1986. She served as Director in the Department of Europe-Central Asian Affairs, Counsellor of  the Chinese Embassy in Croatia, Counsellor of  the Chinese Embassy in Serbia, Counsellor of  the Chinese Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
